Meet macro forceswith macro focus

We have never had more power to shape our lives, and perhaps never faced more forces shaping how we live. The stronger those forces become, the more deliberately we need to choose how we live.

How it works

Keep the threadwithout managinganother system

Macro Focus connects what matters to you, what you try, and what happens next. It gives you a useful place to return, not more work to maintain.

  1. Making room for one thing means less room for another

Time, attention, energy, comfort, opportunity: every real choice draws from somewhere else.

Many of those trades are unconscious, inherited, habitual, or simply expedient. The trade is already happening. The useful question is whether it is one you would choose if you could see it clearly.

  2. You cannot know the right choice entirely in advance

Reflection can help, but clarity is incomplete until an idea meets ordinary life.

We learn by acting, noticing what actually happens, and using it to choose what comes next. A choice can be held seriously without being held rigidly.

  3. Knowing what matters helps clarify what is worth the effort

An aim does not remove uncertainty, friction, or sacrifice. It gives you a basis for deciding which costs are worth accepting.

As consequences become clear, you can revise that judgment. The point is not constant striving or treating hardship as inherently good. It is clearer judgment about what effort, rest, pleasure, and responsibility are serving.

Inside Macro Focus

Four ways to keep the thread

Start with the mode that fits the moment. The tools stay connected, but none of them asks you to maintain the whole system at once.

  1. 01 Focus
  2. 02 Notes
  3. 03 Wisdom
  4. 04 Patterns
FocusDirection, current steps, and a quiet trace

01 / Focus

Hold a chosen aim without turning life into a dashboard

An aim can remain present while how you pursue the aim changes with experience.

In practice

  • Name the larger aim and the part that matters to you now
  • Keep a small set of current steps close, and open deeper structure only when useful
  • Mark movement with a quiet trace rather than a performance score

The boundary

  • The week is one practical horizon, not the meaning of the aim
  • Steps can change when conditions or understanding change
  • Returning after time away creates no overdue state or catch-up debt
NotesExperience kept specific and editable

02 / Notes

Let experience remain specific before explaining what happened

Notes preserve what happened, what stood out, and what may deserve another look.

In practice

  • Capture in writing or voice, with a visible save state and direct editing
  • Use journal and schedule views when they fit the material
  • Keep the full account, a shorter reflection, or only what matters to retain

The boundary

  • The record remains yours rather than becoming a system-written narrative
  • Controls appear progressively instead of crowding the act of capture
  • Nothing requires a daily ritual, prompt, or public performance
WisdomSources, context, and a finite library

03 / Wisdom

Bring enduring thought to a question that is alive now

Ancient and modern perspectives remain connected to their sources, context, and limits.

In practice

  • Search or browse a bounded collection of source-backed cards
  • See the source and interpretation before deciding what belongs in your library
  • Read quietly or request restrained narration when audio is useful

The boundary

  • A source is not flattened into a motivational slogan
  • The question leads. An engagement algorithm does not.
  • The library has edges. Reaching the end is a normal state
PatternsPossible relationships without verdicts

04 / Patterns

Look for relationships without converting them into verdicts

Repeated moments may reveal something useful. They may also admit more than one explanation.

In practice

  • Keep observations distinct from possible connections and explanations
  • Explore how biological, emotional, learned, social, environmental, and practical conditions can stack
  • Compare alternatives, counterexamples, and whether a reading fits, partly fits, or does not fit

The boundary

  • A pattern remains a hypothesis, not a diagnosis, identity, or causal finding
  • Several influences can coexist without a single master-cause story
  • The person retains the final judgment about what fits

For people who recognize this

Reflection is not the problem. Continuity is the hard part.

Macro Focus is for people who think seriously about their lives but do not want another system to perform for. It helps you carry what you understand into everyday choices, even when life interrupts.

See how Macro Focus works

You understand more than you consistently live

The insight is real. But ordinary demands keep displacing that insight before understanding can shape what happens.

Your useful context is scattered

Notes, conversations, intentions, and sources exist in different places. Returning means rebuilding the picture yet again.

Rigid systems work until life interrupts

A missed week becomes a broken streak, an overdue plan, or a reason to abandon the system precisely when continuity matters most.

A recurring pattern needs more than “try harder”

A habit, reaction, or return keeps repeating. The pattern’s history, conditions, rewards, relationships, and meaning may all matter at once.

Practical questions

A few things worth knowing

What is Macro Focus, and what isn’t?

Macro Focus is a private place to keep chosen aims, lived experience, possible patterns, and source-backed perspective connected. Macro Focus is not a productivity score, a life program, or a system that decides what matters to you.

How is Macro Focus different from using notes, ChatGPT, or a habit app?

Notes preserve fragments. A general AI can answer a prompt. A habit app tracks repetition. Macro Focus keeps the direction, the lived context around that direction, relevant sources, and tentative patterns in one continuing thread, without streaks, an endless feed, or a demand to use Macro Focus every day.

The product comparison guide looks at the nearby choices by job, including where another product is the more complete option.

What happens if I don’t use Macro Focus for several weeks?

Nothing breaks and no streak is lost. A direction can remain meaningful while life temporarily demands attention elsewhere. When you return, Macro Focus is designed to help you recover the thread without manufacturing failure or urgency.

Is this therapy or treatment?

No. Macro Focus does not diagnose, provide psychotherapy, or offer medical or addiction treatment. Macro Focus can support reflection, learning, and chosen action, but cannot replace qualified care when a situation requires such care.

What is encrypted, and what is sent when I request a response?

Covered personal text is encrypted on your device before persistent storage. When you deliberately request a companion response, the text needed for that request is sent in readable form to the configured AI provider. The distinction is explained in the privacy policy.

How does the 14-day trial work?

A card is required, but nothing is charged during the first 14 days. The selected paid plan begins after the trial unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Can I cancel directly in Macro Focus?

Yes. Billing controls are available from Settings, including a direct path to cancel the subscription. The product does not hide cancellation behind support messages or retention screens.

What changes between Core and Plus?

Both plans include the same underlying product and privacy model. Core is for a small number of active aims and intentional voice use. Plus adds room for more simultaneous aims, supporting areas, and requested audio. See the full comparison on the pricing page.
